How to Fix Missing Trip History in a Turo Fleet
Toll matching needs to know which reservation had a vehicle at a given time — how to fix a gap in trip history.

Toll matching depends on knowing which reservation had a given vehicle at a specific time — if the trip history has a gap, tolls that fall inside it get left unmatched, or worse, assigned to the wrong reservation because the correct one was never imported in the first place.
Confirm the actual missing period
Identify the vehicle, the earliest and latest reservation currently available, the expected source coverage, and the specific gap dates. Check whether the vehicle was genuinely inactive during that window, privately rented, under maintenance, or simply listed under a different identifier that the import never connected to the current one.
Review import coverage, and check for a vehicle identity change
An import can complete technically while still covering the wrong date range — track the first and last trip date in every reservation file you've imported, not just whether the import itself succeeded. And missing history is sometimes attached to an older vehicle name, plate, or listing ID rather than genuinely missing — verify historical mappings before importing what looks like a gap-fill but is actually a duplicate under a different name.
Backfill the smallest reliable range, then rerun
Import the smallest date range that reliably closes the identified gap rather than reimporting the entire history at once — review the new, duplicate, and rejected counts from that import, then rerun affected reconciliation so the previously-unmatched tolls get a real chance to match against the newly available reservation data.
A worked example
A vehicle's imported reservation history covers March through June, but a toll posts in February. Rather than treating this as unmatched forever, check whether the vehicle was actually in the fleet in February at all — if it was added in March, the toll may belong to a different vehicle that later took on the same plate, not a missing import. If the vehicle really was active in February, a targeted backfill of just that month closes the specific gap without reimporting five months of already-correct data.
