Ticket Liability Transfer for Turo Vehicles
Turo can transfer moving-violation ticket liability to the guest who incurred it — but only in specific countries.
For a moving-violation ticket that could affect a host's insurance or driving record, Turo's current guidance describes a real, Turo-mediated liability-transfer process — the host contacts Turo, and Turo provides the ticketing agency with the information it needs to transfer the ticket, sharing only what's strictly necessary. This is a Turo process, not a separate government filing a host handles alone, and it's only available in specific places.
Where transfer is actually available
As of this writing, Turo's guidance states transfer of liability is possible in the US, Australia, and the UK. It's not possible in France, and usually not possible in Canada except in Quebec. Guests in Australia are charged a convenience fee (currently $30 AUD) to compensate the host for completing the transfer, and guests in the UK are charged a fee per offense (currently $5 GBP). Confirm current availability and fees before telling a guest what to expect, since these can change by country.
Follow the issuing authority, and build an audit trail
Use the instructions on a verified notice and the authority's official website, and record eligibility, the required statement or affidavit, the supporting rental or trip agreement, the submission method, the deadline, the confirmation number, and the final decision — get legal advice if the declaration is unclear, since submitting inaccurate information can carry serious consequences. Preserve the original notice, the reservation, pickup and return times, vehicle substitutions and extensions, messages, the submitted transfer form, and proof of delivery, and give the case a status that distinguishes "transfer submitted" from "liability accepted."
Don't duplicate recovery
A liability transfer and a separate Turo reimbursement request aren't interchangeable for the same cost — use the path the authority and Turo's current policy actually allow, and don't pursue both for the same underlying charge. Kelviz can maintain the notice, reservation match, submitted action, and outcome in one case history.
